Playing with Jennie

How does it feel when you have your friends and well-wishers in the audience and you’re playing your first concert with your daughter? Out of this world! I feel lucky to have experienced that yesterday.

Jennie and I played at the Pianoman Jazz Club. For me it was an experience of its kind that many would just dream about. Singing my favourite songs, songs that I have played for over twenty years but never had an opportunity to play on a formal stage. The show was originally scheduled in January but we had to cancel due to some urgent commitments. When Jennie was little and singing I would imagine that one day we would be doing the concert together. That came to be true.

Our preparation started way back in Sep-Oct 2018. We created a set list of old and new age songs so that we would cater to listeners from different generations. It kept evolving along the way and we finally prepared 24 songs for the concert. We did covers from the Eagles, Pink Floyd, John Mayer, Amy Winehouse, John Denver, Elvis, Louis Armstrong, Bod Dylan, the Beatles, Simon Garfunkel, Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Cris Cornel – songs from last 60 decades.

We had a great evening as much as the audience did (they said that). We closed the concert with the song I’ll be there for you from ‘Friends.’
