Driving Miss Jennie

In these summer holidays I had a pretty relaxed and fun time, mostly at home. One of the highlights of the holidays is trainingJennie how to drive. She did pick up once last year but didn’t complete. This year I got her a learner’s licence and made it a point to train her.

Waking her up up at 6.30 (that’s the earliest for Jennie) was the toughest job. With constant practice and effort she looked quite confident to go on the main road. I let her drive on the main traffic as I sat next to her on the rear seat. I would sit with so much fear and stress but I couldn’t let that affect Jennie. That would make her anxious. First she drove for 3 kilometers and the second time around she drove for 15 kilometers. She bumped into a mini bus once but thankfully only the rear-view mirror was hit. No damage. She also banged a car behind at a slope, at the signal. Good thing about Jennie is that she was calm all the time. She never panicked and I think that has made her learn faster.

I am now looking forward to getting her the driver’s licence. Hope to get her a car too someday. Driving Miss Jennie has been fun and exciting and fulfilling.
